Kenari Farms
The word ‘kenari’ means “from the neighborhood”. Each neighborhood Kenari Farm serves as a catalyst for growing and production of food within the community, by local entrepreneurs, existing farms, community gardens or backyard gardens.
The Roswell Kenari farm, in Georgia was the first to break ground, land that was destined to become a typical subdivision. The farm is being developed to serve as a community asset, an enchanting productive green space, transformed into a public space that, besides being a peaceful retreat for the public, will enhance pedestrian, or bicycle access from hitherto traditional subdivisions to neighborhood retail locations. It is being followed by The Athens Kenari Farm (Georgia). Requests from candidate farms in various locations in North Carolina, California, Massachusetts and elsewhere are currently being considered.
